The film The Power of the Dog was named Best International Picture in the 22nd edition of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards. The event took place last night virtually for second year in a row.
Not a single one of the films nominated received more than two awards. Dune’s Denis Villeneuve won in the Best Director category. The award to Best Screenplay went to Don’t Look Up’s Adam McKay and David Sirota. Flee was deemed the Best Documentary and The Worst Person in the World, Best Foreign Language Film.
Andrew Garfield (tick… tick… BOOM!) and Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter) won in the Best Actor categories (Male and Female), while Troy Kotsur (CODA) and Ann Dowd (Mass) triumphed in the Best Supporting Actor equivalents.
The ceremony featured acknowledgements by Denis Villeneuve, Ann Dowd, Troy Kotsur, the director of Flee, Jonas Poher Rasmussen, and the producer of The Power of the Dog, Roger Frappier.
