THE POWER OF THE DOG DOMINATES THE VFCC NOMINATIONS FOR BEST IN INTERNATIONAL FILM

Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog scored five nominations in the Best in International Film section of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle awards. The film will compete in the Best Picture category, Director (Campion), Supporting Actress (Kristen Dunst) and Supporting Actor (Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jesse Plemons).

The Power of the Dog’s closest competitors will be Belfast and The Lost Daughter, with three nominations each. Belfast scored mentions in the Best Picture category, Director and Screenplay (Kenneth Branagh, both). The Lost Daughter will be competing for Best Screenplay (Maggie Gyllenhaal), Actress (Olivia Colman) and Supporting Actress (Jessie Buckley).

Bradley Cooper alone got two nominations, one as Best Actor for Nightmare Alley and one as Best Supporting Actor for Licorice Pizza.

The winners of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle awards, international section, will be announced during the VFCC awards ceremony next March 7th.
