MANCHESTER BY THE SEA NAMED BEST FILM OF 2016 BY VANCOUVER FILM CRITICS CIRCLE AND DOMINATES INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

 

VANCOUVER, B.C. (December 19, 2016) – Kenneth Lonergan’s sorrowful Manchester by the Sea dominated the Vancouver Film Critics Circle’s international awards, taking home Best Picture, Best Actor for Casey Affleck, Best Supporting Actress for Michelle Williams, and Best Director and Best Screenplay for Kenneth Lonergan. Best Actress went to Isabelle Huppert for her miraculous turn in Elle, while Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for his powerful work in Moonlight. Maren Ade’s inventive comedy Toni Erdmann is the winner of Best Foreign Language Film, and Cameraperson was touted with Best Documentary.

Winners of the Canadian awards will be announced at the VFCC’s awards ceremony on Monday January 9.
